Netflix and Kill
Everyone needs a break at some point in their life, even the Queen of Scotland...especially after she just was an accomplice in the murder of the previous King of Scotland...
I really think the title of this show gives away the justification as to why Lady Macbeth would like this show. Not only could it have helped her plan the murder, but it also shows how guilt affects various people and how the subconscious can cause people to go out of control. It also shows how for some people, one murder is not enough, and therefore Lady Macbeth could help Macbeth get his feelings under control. In addition, it shows the interrogations and court hearings of murderers, so it could help her and her husband figure out how to confront confrontation. Annalise Keating, the main character, could also be thought to be very similar to Lady Macbeth as she is first portrayed as very powerful, but eventually starts to deteriorate.
Synopsis:
As I have watched every episode of this show to date, I would give it a 3/5 stars. The first season is great, but after a while everything gets wacky and they murder so many people it is just appalling that they don't ever get caught. I guess that is the name of the show however...
The premise of the show is that there is a criminal and defense law professor at a college, and she picks 5 of her students to be her interns. Wes, Connor, Michaela, Asher and Laurel are her 'chosen ones'. At first it is set up to look like that is the job everyone wants, but as they get deeper into it, they want out. Annalise seems sane at first, just like a powerful woman figure, but sometimes the ways she acquires her evidence are not technically legal. The show progresses by starting and ending each episode with a flash forward to someone's death, and then each episode shows the times and events eventually leading up to the murder of someone. The first murder is Annalise's husband, and the murders get larger and worse as the show goes on.
This would feel Lady Macbeth's want to be a powerful woman. Olivia Pope is basically pulling the strings behind everything in the United States government both during Fitz's eight years in office, and even after. She (spoiler alert) even took part in rigging the election that got him into the office!!! In terms of relationships in which the female is the dominant power, Olivia is that in every single relationship in her life. And talk about daddy issues, Olivia's father is the head of a secret division of the government that just kills people!!! She even has times in which she could kill her father, but she doesn't... sound familiar? I think that watching Scandal would be the ultimate eye opener for Ms. Macbeth, and it would have her learn a lot about herself and how she can control men.
Synopsis: EASILY the best Shonda Rhimes show out there (trust me, I've seen them all). Olivia Pope starts off running her own company as a 'fixer', called Olivia Pope and Associates (OPA). OPA makes problems disappear. If someone is facing accusations from the press, they find dirt on the press and make them drop the information. She also runs President Fitzgerald's campaign in his run for president. He ends up being elected, and as the show progresses, Olivia becomes involved with the President of the United States of America as his mistress (seeing as he is already married). She then begins helping him with international relations, and basically pulling the strings behind everything in the government #girlpower.
I think this movie would be perfect for Lady Macbeth. It could take her out of her dark place after the murder of King Duncan, and also help to teach her that everyone can become good if they try, and even if they are surrounded by evil. The singing would offer her something to be happy about, and hopefully if she watched it early enough, save her from her suicide.
Synopsis: Descendants is a Disney Channel Original Movie about the children of the infamous villains in the Disney movies (Cruella De Vil, Ursula, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar). At the beginning, they all live on this island where all of the villains have been exiled to, but one day they start going to school with all of the 'good people'. Mal (daughter of Maleficent), starts to fall in love with Ben (son of Belle and the Beast), and starts to not want to be evil anymore. All of the 'bad kids' start to question whether or not they want to be evil and follow in their parents footsteps anymore.
The Crown:
This seems like a show that Lady Macbeth would've watched the night after she received the note from Macbeth. Dreaming of what it would be like to be queen, she would enjoy this show. It shows the life of a queen, showing not only the perks, but also the bad things that come with being queen.
Synopsis: The Crown depicts Queen Elizabeth II as a 25 year old newly wed in the 1940s, and it shows the struggles that come with being queen.
House of Cards:
This show is basically the relationship of Lady Macbeth and Macbeth in a Netflix show. It shows another relationship driven by power and revenge, and I think there are many parallels to be drawn between Macbeth and House of Cards. This would give Lady Macbeth the confidence to go through with the murder, as well as it shows another corrupt government so the Macbeths might not feel as bad about their actions. I would think that this would be a show they would watch together before they go to sleep every night.
Synopsis: House of Cards is about a man and his wife who become higher and higher in the political scene, starting with being the senator of South Carolina, and ending with the President of the United States. They then start to get vengeance on all of the people who have 'wronged' them. This is comparable to Macbeth killing Banquo and attempting to kill Fleance because they threatened his throne.
